Mick Thompson, a band member, community contributor, father and grandfather, from Havant died in April after a battle with motor neurone disease.

He was known for being in the band Five by Five, which performed across the region from the 1960s right up to 2015.

On the 71-year-old's orders, friends and families attended the funeral at the Oaks Cremtorium in Havant in fancy dress including The Beatles, a sparkly fairy, Minnie Mouse, Dorothy from Wizard of Oz and Wee Willy Winky.

Now the family are hosting a music night, with bands including The Shadders, The Superheroes and The Storms playing, to raise money for the Rowans Hospice and the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Daughter Amy Thompson said: '˜Music was obviously a huge part of dad's life, and that certainly had a big influence on the rest of the family.

'˜He was a lovely, kind-hearted man and cared so much for the other people in the band, regardless of any changes in line-up.'

The event is on Friday, November 16 at Leigh Park Working Men's Club.

Tickets are £10 and available from Mick King on (023) 9226 7108 or John Gray on 07771 362892.
