Discarded books to help out vulnerable children

COLLEGE and university students in Portsmouth are being encouraged to donate books they no longer need to charity.

With the end of the academic year fast approaching, Barnado’s in London Road is offering students the chance to offload their unwanted textbooks.

Lois Bramley, area business retail manager, said: ‘At the end of term, students often wonder what to do with all their textbooks.

‘We will very happily take them in our shops where we know they will find new homes while raising funds for the many services we provide for vulnerable children and young people in the area.

‘We’re also desperately looking for volunteers and are appealing to students and the wider Portsmouth community to consider volunteering in our North End store. Volunteering provides valuable experience for those seeking employment, as well as a great opportunity to meet new people and make new friends.’
