Dynamic pianist comes to Portsmouth with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra

One of the world's most dynamic young pianists, Simon Trpceski from Macedonia, returns to Portsmouth to play Beethoven's Emperor Concerto with the BSO under former principal conductor Andrew Litton.

The programme is completed by the most popular of the later symphonies by Shostakovich, No 10, which reflects on the Stalin era in Russia.

Tragedy, despair, terror and violence are finally dispelled in two minutes of triumph – reflecting the national mood after the dictator’s death.
