Emsworth British Food Fortnight 2016 hailed as the '˜best one ever'

HUNDREDS of people flocked to the final day of a two-week food festival.

The Emsworth British Food Fortnight was wrapped up in stunning fashion with its ‘Boost of Kindness’ harvest festival in St Peter’s Square.

Dozens of people packed into the town centre yesterday to watch the service, led by Emsworth Churches.

Dozens of children from both St James’ CE Primary and Emsworth Primary choirs provided a rousing soundtrack.

Alistair Gibson, of Emsworth Business Association, said: ‘This has been our best food fortnight ever.

‘It’s been more varied and there have been more things for people to do.’

Mr Gibson said the town’s festival had even stunned the founder of Love British Food, Alexia Robinson.

‘She emailed me and said “Emsworth was truly inspiring” – that’s a huge honour,’ he added.

Hundreds of items of food were collected over the two weeks, which will now be donated to the Beacon Food Bank, based at Portsdown Community Church.

Mr Gibson praised the town’s generosity, which he described as ‘amazing’.
