IT’S looking like an Edam good day out — a festival of cheese is coming to Portsmouth.

Portsmouth Guildhall will host the Cheese Fest on Saturday, September 23 and the people behind it say you have to brie there.

From traditional cheeses to mozzarella sticks and from halloumi fries to baked Camembert, expect to indulge in and learn about all types of cheeses and the best wines, beers and port that go with them.

Luke Betts, one of the organisers, pictured below, said: ‘Anything that is cheese-associated will be there.

‘There will be some quirky and crazy vendors. It will be a real fun day out for everyone, very lighthearted and silly.’

There will be more on offer than just cheese at this year’s festival, which is visiting Portsmouth for the first time as part of the Cheese Fest UK tour.

Luke said: ‘There will be craft beers, speciality drinks that go well with all the cheeses. Even speciality vodka made out of cow’s milk.’

There will also be live music and entertainment.

Luke said: ‘There will even be cheesy music to go with it. If all goes well, we are already aiming for a two-day event next year.’

Tickets are due to go on sale soon.
