And a striking new mural, designed by volunteer Serena Wild, reading ‘Save The Lodge’ has been painted along the fence fronting on to Anglesea Road.

Genre-hopping political band Broken Republic will be headlining tomorrow night’s gig. The band’s Ben Baxter said: ‘We are choosing to play in support of people who are having their voices trampled on, to help their voices get heard that bit more.

‘What’s happening to The Lodge is out of order.’

The gig takes place outside the cafe in Victoria Park from 7.30pm tomorrow. Entry is £4.99.

Support comes from funk collective Ronk Torp, an acoustic set from Charlie Harris while DJs Marc Flood and Jonty spin the tunes.
