Girl, 11, gets on her bike to fundraise for charity

The 11-year-old, from Gosport, rode from her house to Titchfield and back.

Anna raised more than £800 for Harbour Cancer Support, a charity in Gosport that offers support to anyone affected by cancer.

She chose the charity when she found out about her idol David Bowie’s battle with cancer and a family member was diagnosed.

Anna-Louise said: ‘The bike ride wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be because I enjoyed it.

‘Cancer is horrible and I wanted to help.’

Her mum Louise Stothard, 32, said: ‘Anna started the fundraising page all by herself, with no input from any of us. We are all so proud of her.’

Kath James, from the charity, said: ‘It’s amazing how much she has raised.

‘We really appreciate every penny.’
