The horse-racing course in Chichester has invited families to relive the ‘magical summer beach holidays of yesteryear’ with plenty of nostalgic fun for the August bank holiday weekend.

The event will start on Friday, August 26 with fire eaters, acrobats and drummers bringing a lively carnival spirit to Goodwood.

It will be followed by a massive firework display from Starlight, which was responsible for arranging an epic show for the Queen’s jubilee celebrations.

Alex Eade, general manager at the racecourse, said: ‘We are thrilled to welcome back Starlight, which will be providing another incredible show on the Friday night.’

As well as putting on several prestigious horse races, Goodwood will host a free historic fairground, with a helter-skelter and a big wheel.

A petting zoo and a vintage Punch and Judy show will also keep kids amused, while an interactive circus will allow for attendees of all ages to learn impressive tricks.

Live rock ‘n’ roll music from the Class of ’58 band will round off both evenings.

Mr Eade is hoping to attract more families by offering free admission to children under the age of 18.

He said: ‘This fixture is a real highlight of our season and is so popular with families.’
