She says: ‘It was a real honour in lots of ways because I got to speak to many veterans and different people who were involved in D-Day, which was incredible, such a privilege.

‘And also how involved Portsmouth was in the lead-up to it all was amazing – we didn't know what was happening until really close to the event, especially on the fifth.’

But once the world leaders and dignitaries had left, the focus was more on the local community.

‘We had dreams of what the sixth to ninth was going to be for the city, but we didn't envisage the scale of the stage. That communities were able to perform on such a huge scale was amazing for them.’
