I'd be happy to see Garymiming

I see there's a Sixties tour travelling around England next month and one of the acts is Gary Puckett and the Union Gap.

Now, I have always loved an entertainer with a good voice and in the 1960s Gary Puckett’s was simply the best.

I have just about everything he ever recorded. Woman Woman, Young Girl and Over You are just three of his number ones I still rave about.

But, about five years ago, I bought a DVD of him singing live and I was saddened to find his singing voice had passed its sell-by date. I wouldn’t go to see him for that very reason.

However, if he was on stage with a live band miming to his original recordings, I wouldn’t mind a jot. Just to see this great performer from the late Sixties would do it for me.

I saw an Elvis Presley show at the Empire Pool, Wembley, some years ago.

Elvis was on film of course, but the band were playing live and the choir sang in unison. It was fantastic.

If they can do it for a dead Elvis, I’m sure they could do it for a live act from yesteryear whose voice is past its best.
