Production inspired by construction workers in New York

The all-male physical theatre dance company Zoielogic is coming to Portsmouth next month with its high-risk production Safe.

Choreographer and artistic director Zoie Golding was inspired by the construction workers at the Empire State Building in New York.

She said: ‘We’ve all seen iconic photos of the construction workers hanging out on a piece of scaffolding, eating their lunch, hundreds of feet in the air above the traffic.

Safe is a piece about masculinity and brotherhood, the incredible teamwork of these men, the camaraderie, the bravery, testing masculinity in a world of fragility and adversity.

‘Audiences are drawn into the world of determination; they’ll see stories unfold and how competitiveness and bravado lead to a collective spirit and unique friendships.’

The production will be at Portsmouth New Theatre Royal at 7.30pm on April 12.

Tickets are £14 and are available by phoning the box office on (023) 9264 9000 or visiting newtheatreroyal.com.
