REVIEW: Lewis and Leigh at The Square Tower, Old Portsmouth

Hailing from the diverse environments of the Mississippi and the South Wales valleys, they seems an unlikely couple in the same way as Alison Krauss and Robert Plant did a few years ago.

However the lyrical content of the songs show the two places have more in common than you might think with Rubble dealing the socio-economic despair of both communities.

The band recently supported Deacon Blue on tour and they showed their appreciation with a version of that band’s hit Real Gone Kid. The highlight for me though was there interpretation of The Smiths There is Is a Light That Never Goes Out.

However, it’s the quality of their own tunes that shines through and it was no surprise to hear they won The Americana Awards Best Album and Best Song with their track Ghost.
