REVIEW: Not Dead Enough at Mayflower Theatre, Southampton

Following the success of The Perfect Murder and Dead Simple, Not Dead Enough, the third novel in the Roy Grace series, is the latest to be adapted to a stage production.

Shane Richie stars as DS Roy Grace, the man tasked with solving a brutal murder whilst dealing with the mysterious disappearance of his own wife. He is certainly convincing, particularly in the later scenes. However, at times, I found it difficult to differentiate from cheeky chappie Alfie Moon from EastEnders.

Laura Whitmore is a revelation. Best known for her work as an MTV presenter, she makes her professional theatrical debut as Cleo Morey in this gripping thriller and I’m sure it won’t be her last outing.

Michael Quartey was a clear crowd favourite with his comic relief, whilst Stephen Billington also impressed as Brian Bishop.

The set was impressive however, lighting issues meant losing some facial expressions when the actors were at the front of the stage.

If you like a murder mystery, don’t miss this latest instalment from Peter James. Just like its predecessors, it doesn’t disappoint.
