REVIEW: That'll Be The Day! Christmas Show 2016Kings Theatre, Southsea

'Tis the season for all things festive and one show that will truly get you into the Christmas spirit is the That'll Be the Day Christmas special.

The gang have been on the road for over 30 years with their regular rock ‘n roll show but change the production for December into a slice of unashamed yuletide entertainment, perfect for a seaside audience which lapped it up.

Classic tunes from the 50s right through to the 80s were combined with some hilarious comedy skits and the band paid tribute to the likes of David Bowie,T he Beatles and Gene Pitney. I sung along to some chart topping seasonal songs particularly enjoying a medley featuring Winter Wonderland, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town and Rockin around the Christmas Tree.

In between there were some amusing vintage TV adverts I had long since forgotten and some that were well before my time!

This jolly feast had numerous costume changes and the stage was beautifully lit. A cleverly-done mini adult-themed Christmas Carol Freddie Mercury-infused pantomime featured some saucy double entendres but was non-offensive and a magical audience singalong to White Christmas rounded off the night quite nicely.

A fabulous show with lashings of festive spirit that definitely got me in the party mood.
