The Rock Project classes for children in Waterlooville and Portsmouth

A GRAPHIC designer is launching a new music school for young people, more than a decade after her parents created a national phenomenon.

Sam Fry’s parents set up The Rock Project, the leading school for children’s contemporary music tuition.

Now the 28-year-old, from Portsmouth, has decided to join the family business by opening her own rock and pop music school in the city.

She said: ‘I can remember me and my siblings climbing over instruments and drum kits in our house in Denbigh, North Wales. We were always surrounded by music, it was a massive part of our childhood.

‘In the past 10 years more than 4,000 students have taken part and I’m hoping our school in Portsmouth will be another successful chapter in the history of the franchise.’

The Rock Project starts on April 30 at Waterlooville Baptist Church, London Road, Waterlooville.

There are two sessions, one for juniors aged seven to 11, from 9am to 11am, and another for 12 to 18-year-olds, from 11am to 1pm.
