There's a Mutiny coming '“ and it's bigger than ever
Superstar DJ Pete Tong joins a bill that already includes veteran dancefloor fillers Groove Armada, funk and soul star CeeLo Green, chart-topper Example and Steve Angello of Swedish House Mafia, as well as dozens more.
The return of Mutiny means another major music festival in Portsmouth as up to 30,000 music-lovers are expected to pack the King George V Playing Fields at Cosham over the bank holiday weekend of May 28 and 29.

Hide AdHolding the festival at the playing fields marks Mutiny’s return to Portsmouth. In its first year it played host to 5,000 people in Victoria Park, but last year it moved out to Fontwell Race Course, near Chichester – a move which the organisers only ever intended to be a one-off. Organiser Luke Betts said: ‘It’s good to bring it back home, and we’ve got a great line-up of top international artists.
‘We’ve got to be able to get the big names in – we’re competing against the likes of Radio One’s Big Weekend and Creamfields.
‘We’ve ended up with a different line-up to the one we set out to get, but we are very happy with it and people seem to be going for it as well.’
And Luke see it as complementing the city’s other big musical events.

Hide Ad‘The Summer Show has got the cheesy stuff and will get the families in, Victorious has all the bands, and we have the dance acts.
‘We’re starting to see our tickets go to a broader range of people too, which is great for the festival.’
The organisers have also been working closely with the city council and the police to make sure things run smoothly.
‘They’re very experienced at dealing with this kind of event now, with Victorious and The America’s Cup,’ added Luke. ‘It looks like everything is coming together.’

Hide AdLuke also hopes the weekend will help boost local businesses.
‘These events do bring in huge amounts for the local economy, he said.
‘We’ve got just under 12 weeks to go now, and we’re really starting to shift the tickets, so it should be a good weekend.’
Music finishes on site at 11pm, with the bars closing at midnight, but there will be a number of after-parties at city venues, details yet to be announced, providing music until the early hours.
