Things to do this weekend in the Portsmouth area

Winter may be fast approaching - but fear not, there's still lots to do with the family in Portsmouth this weekend.

If you’re the creative type, Fort Purbrook will be hosting a two-day craft show on Saturday and Sunday.

There will be plenty of opportunities for Christmas shopping, with other gifts on offer that you are unlikely to find on the high street.

The show will be open both days between 10.30am and 4.30pm.

For a more relaxed pace of life, Portsmouth Friends of the Earth are holding another of the social circular walks around the city.

It takes place on Saturday, and walkers are asked to meet outside Fratton train station at 12.30pm.

The group will be stopping for refreshments and collecting suggestions about making the route more walking-friendly to pass on to the council.

If sport is more your thing, head down to the Mountbatten Centre in North End on Sunday where there will be a full day of archery competition.

Run by the Forest of Bere Bowmen, there will be 154 archers competing - including juniors and seniors, able bodied and disabled competitors.

It will start at 8.50am with three sessions of shooting followed by prizegiving.

Finally, Saturday will of course be Bonfire Night and there are more opportunities to see fireworks lighting up the night sky over the weekend.

In the Fareham area there will be displays at St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School in Primate Road, in Wickham and Bishops Waltham.
