Venues change, but we'll keep on singing

SINGING is a great way to relax and spend some quality time with our friends.

After the Sing For Fun Christmas meal, we took a week off, and all of us dearly missed the group in that time, as well as all of the friends that we have at the group.

Now, Sing For Fun has changed venues – but our singing voices certainly haven’t changed, we’re all still belting out our favourite tunes.

We now meet at the Scout Hut in Green Lane, Rowner.

Everyone in the group seems to really like the new venue, which is fantastic news.

We open at 6pm ,where you will be greeted by volunteers offering drinks and biscuits.

We then have another session starting at 7pm until 8.45pm. You are more than welcome to come to either session or even stay for the whole evening.

Everyone is welcome to join us at Sing For Fun – we cater for people with additional needs, but welcome absolutely anyone into our group.

That’s what makes our group so special – we want to include everyone who is interested in singing along with us.

The best part about the new venue is that it is much bigger than our old one; this means that there is enough space for us to all get on our feet and have a bit of a dance together, which makes the group even more fun than it already is.

We all like to sing with the microphone that the group has. My carer’s nine-year-old son, called James, likes to sing We Will Rock You by Queen. He and I are really good friends.

On Fridays we have another Sing For Fun group, also at the Scout Hut in Green Lane.

This group runs from 1pm until 2.30 pm.

This group is much the same as Thursday’s, but caters for the service users from the local day services and the service users that are more independent and can access the venue by bus. The bus stops very close, so again everyone is welcome to this group.

The Sing For Fun group is really good fun, and Fareham day service users get to meet Gosport day service users.

We go round and take music requests – we also have action songs where we all join in.

The groups’ favourite songs are Reach by S Club 7 and Superman. My favourite thing is eating KitKats with everyone and singing Angels by Robbie Williams with my girlfriend.
