THIS WEEK IN 1975: Props consortium could save groups

A survival plan for local amateur entertainment groups whose existence could have been threatened by inflation, was put forward by June Parry, the wardrobe mistress of Waterlooville Musical Players.

Mrs Parry, of Horndean, feared the rising costs of putting on a show would force some amateur societies to disband.

She suggested they could help themselves by pooling their resources by hiring out costumes, props and equipment to each other.
