Why it's time to challenge your memories with a trip to see the world-class Mary Rose Museum in Portsmouth

How do you remember the Mary Rose? As an integral part of the history of Portsmouth, we all have our own favourite memories.

Perhaps it was the much-televised day she was raised from the seabed in 1982, or consequently the years of continual spraying, or

even trying to look through misted-up windows at what you could just about make out as a Tudor warship.

But what about the Mary Rose today? We've changed a lot since then. The sprays were turned off in 2013 and we recently welcomed the two millionth visitor into our state-of-the-art museum since it opened in 2016.

With some 2,000 artefacts on display, recovered from the seabed in one of the most challenging archaeological excavations of all time, the museum now tells the stories of what life was like for the 500 men on board when she sank in the Solent in 1545.

Everything we know about the men of the Mary Rose, from where they originally came from to how they lived, comes from what was found on the seabed. The Many Faces of Tudor England exhibition reveals the lives of eight of our crew using the latest scientific techniques. You’ll never look at the people of Tudor England the same way again!

The exhibition closes on December 31, 2019, so make a date to meet the crew soon.
