Big beat club night The Breakdown returns for a one-off in aid of charity at The Wedgewood Rooms, Southsea
The Breakdown 20 is being held at The Wedge to celebrate Carl Edwards and Paul ‘Monkey P’ Keeler, while raising money for charities – The Rowan’s Hospice and No More Durty Water – in their honour.
Breakdown rocked for five years, between 1997 and 2002, run by Carl and Simon Whitehead, with Monkey P providing the visuals. It was described as the ‘scruffy sibling’ of Geushky’s techno and Fishtank’s house, a punk and dance crossover. Simon said he and Carl sold their instruments, bought decks and started the night, modelled on the Big Beat Boutique and the Heavenly Social.
