Bumper Saturday for real ale fans across Hampshire region

IT's a bumper weekend for ale fans as preparations are made for the return of Denmead Beer Festival.

The event takes place on Saturday from 7pm to 11.30pm at Denmead Community Centre in School Lane, Denmead.

More than 20 real ales will run through the taps and there will be a selection of wines, cider and soft drinks.

Tickets for the occasion cost £9 each and with the price you get a souvenir glass tankard and a complimentary drink.

Guests will be treated to live music from No More Excuses.

A raffle and barbecue will also feature.

Tickets have been available from; Denmead Community Centre; Discover Wine, Hambledon Road; Fleurtations, Hambledon Road; The Forest of Bere, Hambledon Road; The Sir Loin of Beef, in Highland Road, Eastney, Portsmouth; and The Fox & Hounds in School Lane, Denmead.

Meanwhile, Portchester Community Centre will host its third Sausage and Cider Festival on Saturday.

There will be lots of cider and perry available and six different flavours of sausage, all from a local butcher.

All the money raised will go to the charity which runs Portchester Community Centre to provide classes, clubs and events to support residents.

A percentage of the proceeds will go towards ukulele band the Pompey Pluckers’ chosen charity, Artscape.

The organisation helps adults recover from mental health problems by allowing them to express their creativity through art. The event is from midday to 5pm.
