A change of heart on St Valentine's Day

Greetings Chipsters everywhere.

I probably don’t need to tell you what day it was on Sunday, as I’m sure many of you got mystery cards and presents at school on Friday.

Well, for those of you who don’t know, it was St Valentine’s Day. Usually I ignore it because, quite frankly, it’s a load of commercial garbage. Why are people out buying cards, presents and flowers when they could be buying toys and bones?

However, I have to say that right now, I’m feeling rather flattered.

I had taken a lovely walk by myself along the river on Sunday, when I decided it was time to start heading back.

Couples were everywhere – holding hands, hugging, smiling – yuck! I thought, not for me.

As I started to approach my home, I could see something outside the front door. I stopped in my tracks. What was that? I squinted, trying to get a better view.

I ran up to the front door, only to be met by a giant teddy bear holding flowers, chocolates and my favourite kinds of food.

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t immediately get excited, and so, I can no longer pretend I dislike St Valentine’s Day.

I’ve yet to find out who my secret admirer is, but I think I have a good idea. I’ll tell you why another time.

If you didn’t get anything on February 14, don’t feel bad, no one appreciates you more than I do, and I am thankful that you listen to my stories every week.

Chip Chip for now. Chipper.
