Good news if you have your sights set on the weekend this week as there is plenty going on.
It’s been a while since I’ve focused on an intense three days to celebrate the end of the week, but to take us into February, I’ve put together a few nights that should keep you going all the way through with a little rest on Sunday.
A great night is on the cards tonight at Little Johnny Russells. It seems to be their thing to randomly bring in big names to play DJ sets and this one is no different.
Steve Dewaele, drummer of Belgian techno rockers Soulwax, is on hand to DJ at what I believe is going to be the highlight of the year so far.
To say that the set is going to eclectic is an understatement as I’m sure he will be referring to his vast musical stylings to deliver a slightly different night to what we would normally expect. This is definitely my pick of the week.
Doors open at 8pm and entry is £5 before 9pm, £6 before 10pm and £7 thereafter. Get there early to avoid disappointment.
Tomorrow night brings the last Chaos of the month to the Wedgewood Rooms.
At the self-dubbed ‘proper alternative club night’, expect current and classic alternative floor fillers all night long. If you love it, they’ll play it. That is their only music policy.
The Edge will be, as ever, transformed into The Chaos Lounge featuring lots of sofas, free Sega Mega Drives, classic tunes, cool lighting and the ever-popular Chaos cocktail menu to get your tastebuds going.
Also, as requested by your feedback, expect glow sticks and temporary tattoos by the bucket load.
Tickets cost £5 and the night starts at 10pm.
If head-banging isn’t your thing then you won’t be left out on Saturday night. Head down to Liquid & Envy for the last WKD Deal Saturday of the month.
Enjoy a night with some excellent offers from WKD.
The main room will feature club anthems, chart, house and r’n’b with non-other than DJ Jazz Black. In the second room you can expect urban grooves from smooth cat DJ Swingsta.
Prices on the door will be £6.50 but head over to liquidclubs.com/portsmouth and get in whenever you want by booking online for under a fiver.
Finally, to finish the weekend off in a slightly calmer way, head on down to The Kraken Wakes Sunday night quiz this weekend.
Quiz entry is £1.
