Portsmouth last week really did have a cracking week for gigs; I managed to make it to Delight at Astoria, Tronic Tuesday’s at Drift, and UP DnB Presents Total Science at The Old Barn. All three were cracking, forward-thinking nights and each promoter really does bring something unique to the scene – so keep your eye out for their future gigs!

This week will keep up the high frequency of events. Firstly, kicking things off tonight, promoters Digital Pollution are hosting a night of techno at The Loft, Albert Road. The line-up of DJs consist of Dan Rambo, Nessy DJ, Jut Phipps and Luke Fuller b2b Toby Kemp, from 8pm until 1am. Tickets cost £3 on the door. For more visit
If techno isn’t your thing, Drift Bar, Palmerston Road, is hosting a night of indie rock, new wave and blues tonight with The Scandal, The Ross Murphy Band, Sink or Soar and Four Folds Law on the bill. Doors open from 7.45pm until midnight with tickets on the door £3 before 8pm and £4 after. Go to
Also on the alternative side of things, tonight is Pete Scathe hosting Wolf Cub Club at The Edge of the Wedge, Albert Road, with a great free night of rock/indie/retro anthems. WCC begins at 11.15pm after the sold-out David Bowie tribute night at The Wedge and finishes at 2am. Go to
Tomorrow evening will also see promoters Indeepmusic’s monthly residency at Huis, Southsea, where special guest Alex Jann will be putting in a live set alongside resident DJs Tom Mayhem, Wesley Brown and Jim Holland for an evening of house, breakbeat and electronica.
