It’s the first weekend of the new month and I’m partial to making an excuse to get out, so that is as good as any.
This week, a banging Saturday night is on the cards as well as some events for all the week night crowd.
Tonight, sees the second instalment of Liquid’s new night Love 2. As well as pumping out the best new music, all cocktails will be £2 all night long. They also promise a celebrity appearance so, get down there and find out who the surprise guest is.
Saturday nights can be a tough decision for clubbers. Every venue is trying to pull you in with various nights and themes. Be confused no more. Here is my guide for this Saturday night.
First off, loosen up at The Lyberry in Guildhall Walk. It’s the perfect place to get a few drinks in you and may even get a bite to eat with their all day, BOGOF offer before heading out on the town. This place is quickly becoming one of Portsmouth’s best pre-club pubs.
See some of the best DJs in town next at Club 8. They present Funk’d & Blush, the sleek and sexy urban club night.
DJ Mike Money has been entertaining the masses for years now, not only as a DJ but a producer too with his material being played on Radio 1. New guy, DJ Dafo thrives off of producing and DJing grime, garage, electro, breaks and hip hop.
Entry costs £3 before midnight and £5 after.
Finally, make your way down to Albert Road for the classic groovy funk night, Funktifino.
The Funktifino all star DJs have been re-defining the word ‘funk’ for years now and, tomorrow night will be no different. They’ll be pumping out everything from James Brown and Curtis Mayfield to Earth Wind and Fire and Prince.
In the Edge, the Monkey Love Stunt Team DJs will be pulling out all of the musical stops from the best decades. They’ll proceed to physically battle each other to drop the fattest tunes. Expect to hear funk, soul, disco, house, hip hop, rock, Motown, dubstep and more.
Entry to both nights costs £5.
