New nights set to come our way

Pub refit marks a bright new future

Gosport pub poised to become community hub after £250k refit

Have your say

It seems that my predictions of a festival-themed few weeks in our clubs is nullified this week. Despite the passing weekend, featuring Download and The Isle of Wight festivals, those standing-in-a-muddy-field-rocking-out style nights just haven’t come.

This week is no different so, maybe they are all waiting the big one, Glastonbury. Who knows. What this week does have, however, is two new nights from three of our favourite venues.

First, the Wedgewood Rooms seems to have reacted to the recently diluted Chaos nights responding with a brand new alternative club night featuring live bands.

Evolution will see the Wedge and its Edge playing host to a new breed of rock culture tomorrow night as five bands, three alternative DJs and two hip hop DJs will share the main room and the Edge.

The bands featured are K’junga Waking Charred, Dendera, Zenthetix and Eden in Vain. And after they have showed us their mettle, Evolution DJs Matt Random and Reverend Eales will take over, guiding you through a journey of rock, metal, punk, ska, indie and electro until 2.30am.

If you want to see the bands, doors will open at 8pm and entry will be £4 but the after show club will be completely free entry from 11.30pm.

We Supply Movement have really been pulling out the stops recently with some great nights at Little Johnny Russell’s. Tomorrow night is no different as some of Portsmouth’s best DJs come together under the guise of the Bosseye Boys.

Expect a massive party with all the best hip hop, indie, rock, dance and party bangers from years gone by to the present day brought to you by DJs Mills, Lemon, Rob Troubadour, Scott Stiles and Kid Kuda.

Amazingly, entry is free before 10pm, £2 before 11pm and £3 thereafter.

Another new night comes by way of Liquid & Envy tomorrow night as, running side by side with their huge Saturday Sensation night is, a new sub room called Vibe.

Resident funky favourite DJ Swingsta will be in charge, playing the best in r ‘n’ b, UK funk and garage, bashment and hip hop. Many new drink deals are available too including, paddles and champagne offers.

This night runs along side sensation so entry is £6.50 on the door though you can save 25 per cent by buying from
