Have your say

March starts with a serious bang in 2011.

This hypothetical explosion isn’t happening in the usual Guildhall Walk clubs but down on the pier.

It’s the only local club where you can say you partied all night suspended above the sea and this is definitely going to be one to talk about as it is the return of Contact at South Parade Pier tonight.

It seems that this is one of the biggest ones ever too. You won’t just get one or two DJs – there’s a mountain of talent including MC Skatty and Ren Dola, Nathan D and Landslide, DJ Sy and MC Storm, the much-loved original resident Mark EG, 1990s rave veteran Matt Handy and one of the biggest names in dance.

His solo album, Skydive, entered the UK charts at number four and has sold 200,000 copies to date, it’s Darren Styles.

If classics are your thing this is a absolute must.

Tickets cost £15 and the night runs from 8pm until 3am.

If you are after a slightly less crazy affair tonight, head down to Chicago’s in Fareham for Six In The City. Some superb drink deals are on offer including Bacardi, Southern Comfort and Blue Sapphire mixers for £2 and great cocktails for £3.50.

These offers are available from 7pm until 10pm – a great way to get you ready for the night to come.

Funk lovers unite tomorrow night as it’s time for the first Funktifino of the month at the Wedgewood Rooms.

Expect only the best in classic funk and soul from the ever-so-dependable resident DJs. Stomp out some up-tempo numbers and slow-grooving ballads.

Doors open at 10pm and admission costs £5.

The classic Pompey club crawl is back Sunday night as Carnage returns for the biggest sailors and pirates fancy dress T-shirt event.

A new route is on the cards this month too.

This time Carnage crawls from Pure at 8pm, on to Yates’, Fuzzy Duck and former Walkabout haunt Stadium, ending in a big way at Liquid & Envy.

This has proved to be one of the leading student nights, so get yourself out of the halls and sample this night of crazy fancy dress variety.

There are no tickets with this event either. Just head over to and order your T-shirt. It’s that simple.

Your unique £10 T-shirt will be the only way you can be granted entry to all of these great venues.
