Controversial exhibition shines a light on aging and trans in Portsmouth

A CONTROVERSIAL exhibition exploring aging, sexuality, disease and transgender is being held in Southsea on Saturday.

Isle of Wight artist Donna Jones is hosting the final weekend of her debut solo exhibition at the Gasp gallery, in Brougham Road.

The 69-year-old has painted a range of evocative – and sometimes graphic – images with the aim of raising awareness of contemporary issues facing society.

Donna, a retired youth worker who was awarded an MBE for her efforts, said: ‘I wanted to raise awareness and make people think.

‘I want people to look deeper into these issues. In Hollywood for example, those women never age.

‘It’s like they live in this bubble of beauty and they never get older – so I wanted to change this.’

Donna’s work, entitled In Your Face, is on display from 2pm to 4pm.

Some images are not suitable for children.
