A sign on a roadside digital noticeboard falsely stated the festival on Southsea Common had suddenly been cancelled. It read: '˜Seafront event cancelled due to high winds.'

The message left people in limbo over whether the hotly anticipated final day had been axed or not. 

And with increasing menacing weather, many believed the message was genuine before the council's official transport  management Twitter account was forced to admit its embarrassing mistake. 

'˜Apologies for the incorrect message on the sign last night - this was due to a technical fault. Victorious Festival is definitely on today,' it read.

Meanwhile, Victorious Festival moved to assure people the event was still going ahead today by responding on its Twitter feed: '˜We can't wait for day three of Victorious 2018!'
