Portsmouth’s Bar 38 to close its doors today

Have your say

My week wouldn’t be complete without a Love Amplified hangover. Last Saturday’s secret party was an epic night out with some great DJs, made even better by the location being different. The Lucky Bar in North End will no doubt host many more parties to come.

Tonight The Barn at Milton hosts a charity event called Calibrate. All proceeds go to Help for Heroes.

From 7pm until 1.30am, you will have access to more than 20 artists across two rooms. Music will range from old school to hard trance and electro.

Calibrate was created with the sole focus of supporting one of the UK’s best-loved charities. So get out and about for a good cause and party hard on behalf of Help for Heroes. Admission: £9.

Tomorrow at the Skye Bar, Tech Noir brings you a personal favourite of mine. Two words: toga party.

From 8pm until 2 am, dress yourself in sheets of all colours and put some leaves in your hair and dance the night away toga style. Admission costs £3 before midnight and more after.

If this isn’t your thing then head to the Wedgewood Rooms for a night of club classics with Funktifino.

Join them for a night of 1970s disco, ’80s party and ’90s house anthems and mash-ups. This will feature the Funktifino all-star DJs versus the Monkey Love Stunt Team.

I saw the Monkey Love boys playing the silent disco at Victorious festival and they had the crowd bouncing. It will run from 10pm until 2am and entry is free before 11pm.

After the success last weekend when Beats and Swing brought you the Stanton Warriors, they now bring you a school night special.

Thursday night from 8pm at The Cellars at Eastney, Beats and Swing are back presenting Beats and Blues with Heymoonshaker.

Beatbox blues duo Heymoonshaker have a fresh sound that will intrigue any audience. Joining them will be DJ duo Los Swingers Cojones combining a mix of ghetto funk, jazz, blues and electric swing. Advance tickets are £8 from
