WALKS & TALKS
GOSPORT: Gosport Discovery Centre, High Street, PO12 1BT. 7.30pm. The 100-year refit of Steam Pinnace 199. Steam Pinnace 199 is a 50ft naval gunboat which was built in 1911. But a hull survey in 2010 indicated the need for urgent restoration. Group 199 at The National Museum of the Royal Navy operate and maintain the gunboat for its owners. They set about fundraising for a task that was to take over three years and absorb over 13,000 volunteer hours. This talk describes the highs and lows of the project.
