About 7,000 people flocked to the Emsworth Show on Horndean Road.

Organised by Emsworth Horticultural Society, families, friends and plenty of dogs shared the sun at the annual event, which has been marred by bad weather for the past two years.

He said: ‘It’s great to have the good weather and have people back again.

‘Lots of people have said that this is the first time they’ve been for three years, and they’re really enjoying the changes we’ve made and the freshness we’ve given it.’

As well as more than 90 stalls offering home-grown food, drink and crafts, there were performances including stunt bikers, falconry and the ever-popular dog show.

Gerald Ducker, from Emsworth, says that the fair is very important for the village and its residents.

He said: ‘It certainly bring the community together.

‘A lot has clearly gone into it, and I think the organisers need congratulating!’

As if it couldn’t get any bigger, chairman Graham has aspirations of expanding the show even further.

He said: ‘We want to keep growing the show and changing the kind of acts we bring along so we keep it fresh, because people are always looking for new things.

‘Because it’s a horticultural show, people tend to associate that with the older generation.

‘But we’re trying to freshen it up, give it a new image and make it more attractive to younger people.’
