It was a night when hundreds of people packed the Kings Theatre in Southsea to highlight the brightest and the best the arts, culture, and entertainment scene in the Portsmouth area has to offer.

Fourteen awards were given out at the 10th annual Guide Awards on Monday, marking achievements in music, comedy, theatre and other fields.

There was also a dazzling performance from nine-year-old West End veteran Lucy Simmonds, an eye-poping live debut from new musical project Big Child Man Child and The Portsmouth Players strutted their stuff in an excerpt from their forthcoming show at The Kings, Hairspray.

Steve Frampton, principal of the night’s main sponsor Portsmouth College, says: ‘We were thrilled to attend The Guide Awards as headline sponsors of such a prestigious event, to celebrate arts, theatre, music and entertainment culture in our great city.

‘The sense of pride in the room was overwhelming and the recognition of achievement and support of local talent is something not to go unnoticed. We are proud of Portsmouth.’
