The third heat winner of All About the Song competition is set to bring fresh talent to the final.
Billy Gregory took the honours last night in the third heat of the News-backed singer-songwriter contest.
Billy, 20, from Portsmouth wowed the judges and the audience to earn his place in the final at The Wedgewood Rooms on June 22.
The University of Brighton student said: ‘Going up there was scary but it was really nice to have a bigger audience than just my group of friends.
‘I can’t wait to play at the Wedgewood rooms – no doubt the atmosphere will be incredible.’
Billy, who had not thought of a name for his final song, admits he has a lot of work to do before the final.
‘I need to write some more songs for the final as I don’t want to use the same ones.’
Billy beat runner-up Paul Dillon by three points and Paul will have to perform in the semi-final to progress in the competition. Both Billy and Paul will also get a slot at the Southsea Show in August. The next heat is tonight, at The Cellars. Doors are at 7.30pm, entry is £2.
