Bruce Springsteen is the first act announced for the 2012 Isle of Wight Festival.

The Boss will be appearing at the Sunday night headliner with his group the E Street Band.

This festival performance is one of four dates announced today.

Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band will also be appearing at the Sunderland Stadium of Light, Manchester Etihad Stadium and Hard Rock Calling in London’s Hyde Park next summer.

The Isle of Wight Festival, will run from Friday, June 22, to Sunday, June 24, with Springsteen closing the show.

Famous for his heartland rock and poetic lyrics, he has sold more than 120 million albums and earned 20 Grammys, two Golden Globes and an Oscar.

Isle of Wight Festival promoter, John Giddings said: ‘It’s taken years to get him here, but it will have been worth the wait. He is one of the greatest acts of all time. It’s going to be a classic year .’

Vodafone customers can buy pre-sale tickets from 8am on Wednesday.
