Celebrate the Triumph and Passion with the BSO at Portsmouth Guildhall

Have your say

I hope everyone has been enjoying the sun recently. The warmer it is, the more events it seems there are, and there are lots this weekend.

Tonight Popworld goes bananas from 9pm until 3am as they host a Zoo Party. They will be handing out free animal masks so everybody can join in the fun. Join them for themed ‘Poptails’ and special zoo drinks promotions. Join their like page on Facebook, Popworld Portsmouth for details on how to get free entry.

Just across the road The Eskimo Project are going equally as mad with a huge summer sale on drinks as they take over The Astoria and The Lyberry Bar, with some drinks starting at £2 each.

They offer four areas of music with different DJs, ranging from hip-hop and RnB, house and bass and festival vibes. Or chill out in their shisha garden.

Entry is just £5 on the door.

Tomorrow was supposed to be the first Amplified Day party at the Glasshouse but unfortunately due to the venue still needing work this will be rescheduled for a later date. To make up for this they are offering you a free garden party at the Astoria. From 5pm there will be free entry via Lyberry Bar, it will be more after 8pm.

Taking over the garden until 10pm will be DJs Soul Divide joined by residents Abbo and Chris Vaux, while some local talent take over the basement, including Fowlplay, Brandon Lilly and Barney Osborne. Not forgetting Chris Boothby in control of the free barbecue.

From 10pm the big boys come out to play as the headliners take over in the shape of DJs Cristoph and Man Without a Clue, with support from The Business Partners until 2am.

Don’t miss out, get involved.

Alternatively head down to The Eastney Cellars where Beats and Swing have invited Mr B, The Gentleman Rhymer to be your entertainment for the evening from 7.30pm. I have heard on the grapevine that this guy is great fun and worth heading out to see.

I asked organiser Luke Fuller for one statement to describe the night, his reply was: ‘Get your tash out!’.

Tickets are £8 in advance available from
