On Monday I attended The Guide Awards at the Kings Theatre in Southsea, where I presented the award for Best DJ.
DJ Lemon gratefully accepted the runner-up award, leaving me over the moon that a legend and good friend of mine, Matt Berry, took the top spot. Tragically Matt died last year and his sister Becca accepted the award on his behalf.
Pop into the Wedgewood Rooms tonight from 11pm for It’s A Sin, to join DJ Lemon for some celebrating.
Tomorrow Icebreaker, a new winter festival, takes over some of the bars and pubs of Southsea in a celebration of our music scene.
For just £12 for a wristband you get access into all participating venues. You can catch headliners such as Deluxe Flamingos and Matt Jarvis, leading into an evening full of entertainment as the DJs all come out to play.
After leaving The Astoria, Amplified Sessions are back tomorrow at their new home, The Lanyards in North End.
From 9.30pm until 3.30am shuffle and dance to the beats of headliner DJ Shiba San, from Cuff and Dirtybird recordings.
Support will come from the Resident DJs.
This event has sold out but follow Love Amplified on Facebook for information on future events.
On Sunday it is that time of the month when the kids all get to meet up and have a boogie to a special guest DJ at the Ickle Bambino Baby Raves.
From midday until 2pm catch Handsome Dave Rocker. Then from 2.15pm until 4.15pm they have Daniel Wright.
Watch your child go mad in a magical mini rave on a dancefloor filled with balloons. It comes complete with a fancy dress photo booth, facepainting, tiny tot activity zone and a chilled out arts and crafts area.
Tickets are £5 for adults and £4 for under-sevens.
Lastly, a final farewell to The Barn this weekend as it hosts its final two events: FEVER on Friday night with Majistrate and Logan D with Push Forward; then it’s Perforate vs Geushky Vinyl Classic with Ian Void.
Be sure to make the effort to go there before it’s too late.
