Wow, what a fantastic bank holiday weekend that was. I haven’t had that much fun in a long time.
Mr B, The Gentleman Rhymer was insanely good at Beats and Swing, Kassassin Street at the Wedge was brilliant, topped off nicely with a bit of House at the Barn.
I then showed my face at the Det Sync night on Sunday and loved it so much I was there all night.
At least the sun finally made an appearance on Monday for all of you that were still standing.
This week there is one event I am really keen to let you know as much information about as possible, as it is all for a good cause and a birthday celebration of my friend Matt Berry who sadly died last year.
On Saturday we invite you to Berry’s Birthday Foundation Fundraiser which is being hosted at The Old Barn from 8pm until 1.30am.
DJs performing on the night will start with the lovely Liz Cornick, whose own passion for the art came from Matt himself.
She will be followed by one of Matt’s best friends, Chris Vaux.
Once Chris hits the end of his set, any DJ wishing to donate can join them and play any song of their choice, therefore creating one of the biggest back-to-back sets in Portsmouth history.
Matt’s spirit and enthusiasm for music has lived on in those who knew him.
And through the respect of the local community and the love of his friends and family, this spirit saw him posthumously win the Best DJ award in the recent Guide Awards.
Following this, and to put all his efforts to a good cause, a foundation has been set up in Matt’s name in conjunction with the charity Motiv8.
This is aimed at helping disadvantaged children to have the opportunity to learn how to DJ.
Matt’s birthday is to continue on with the success of fundraising last year and aid in the support of the project, ready for its launch.
Entry will be £5 on the door with all money going to the charity.
However, you are more than welcome to donate more.
