This weekend sees the return of the Isle of Wight Festival, hopefully it will also bring with it a weekend of brilliant sunshine.
Some of Portsmouth’s finest can be found playing over on the island, including Beats & Swing, Ickle Bambino Baby Raves and the Monkey Love Stunt Team.
I guess this marks the official return of the festival season to the south coast – next up is Mutiny at Fontwell Park, Victorious on Southsea Common and Bestival back on the island.
Tonight welcomes Death Pop upstairs in Drift Bar on Palmerston Road in Southsea from the creators of Waster.
Aiming to shake up your Friday nights in Drift Bar’s new club room, which comes complete with a newly installed air conditioning unit.
Memory reminds me it used to get hot up there!
Every week you can find festival banging DJs playing you a varied selection of rock, rave, D’n’B, funk , punk and festival anthems.
Selected drinks are just £1.50 all night, with free entry before 10pm.
Linkz is on again tomorrow night at Flamingos Bar on Albert Road from 8pm until 1am.
This is the night where DJ Liz C, my female DJ crush, flaunts her talents on the decks and invites along a special guest to join her.
This time it’ll be Get Funk’d , the partnership of Paul Birdeye and Ian Mac enticing you with their funky soulful house.
Entry will, as always, be free all night.
Rapture makes a reappearance at The Slug and Lettuce, also tomorrow from 9pm until 1am, where the combination of the 2-for-1 cocktails and the delightful soundtrack brought to you by Le Fish and Chissie Rascal casually causes a standard amount of mischief, but there are always maximum fun times to be had.
Expect classic hip hop to R’n’B, funk and disco – ranging from Mary J Blige to Sister Sledge and back down to Biggie.
In the words of the Rapture crew: ‘If it’s got a groove, there is a good chance it is going to get rinsed!’
Entry is free all night.
