CLUB SCENE with Char Edmonds

Have your say

There are lots of events all across the city this coming week – I do love it when we are overrun with so many possibilities of a great night out.

Firstly, tonight kicking the weekend off, Discreet are hosting a Halloween warm-up party at The Old Barn from 7.30pm until 1.30am.

They’ll be starting proceedings with a free showing of Dawn of the Dead as part of the Bean Bag Club Horror Season, which ties in nicely with their upcoming zombie-filled Halloween event.

Once you have all been suitably scared, they’ve invited DJs Kingsin, Brandon Lilly and Andy Tempest to spin some tunes, accompanied by residents Klink.

This gives you a chance to sample a glimpse of the Discreet experience and gives you an opportunity to purchase tickets for their highly anticipated Halloween event.

Entry is free for this evening.

Tomorrow, my picks include venturing to the Spinnaker Tower where the Sky High Club are returning with Volume 3 of The Take Over from 8pm. Featuring as always, the Sky High residents, Funktifino Allstars and this time special guest Timmi Magic. Tickets are £12.

Or, head back to The Old Barn again from 8pm until 1.30am, where Beats & Swing present Barry Ashworth from Dub Pistols. Hopefully they will have recovered from their Dragon Boat race earlier in the day in aid of Tonic Music for mental health.

You can as always expect a top line-up of support DJs and a unique night from start to finish.

Tickets are £8.

Lastly on Monday, Delight team up with the guys from Al’Burrito to fill the Astoria from 10pm, with a crazy amount of masked Mexican impersonators as they host a live Lucha Libre wrestling event. Not only will there be live entertainment but your ears will be thrilled by the Delight DJs who will play you nonstop alternative bangers from start to finish.

Al’Burrito hotshot Matt Sinden told me: ‘If you want to experience a taste of Mexico City for a night of pure Mexican entertainment then don’t miss out and come get involved, don’t forget your fancy dress though as their will be prizes!’

Entry is just £4, bargain.
