While many would say that house and techno events dominate the summer and autumn season in Portsmouth, I firmly think this winter has been claimed by the drum and bass scene – the last Box Fresh event of 2015 last Friday was a great example of showcasing what the genre has to offer in the city.
Moving on from drum and bass, tonight at The Old Barn, Milton, we have promoters FLAK presenting their UK garage and bass Christmas Party in association with QBase FM.
The night promises to get everyone in to spirit with plenty of UK bass-heavy tracks from DJs Skippit, Hamish, Lady Sade, ODP, Catch and Ragga.
Doors 10pm until 3am and it’s free entry! For more information visit facebook.com
Tomorrow Beats and Swing present Madame Electrifie as headline DJ at The Old Barn. Joining her is an all-female DJ line-up with very special guests Madame Barducci, Lindsey Spinzee and Liz C.
Expect the girls to bring the vibes with a selection of house, techno and breakbeat tracks that will showcase their fantastic mixing talent. Doors open from 8pm until 1am, tickets £9 from goongoout.com
For anyone looking to go out on Christmas Eve next week, Drift Bar in Southsea are presenting live Christmas covers with Gemma Anderson; what else could get you even more in the festive mood? Gemma is described as having the class of Frank and Dean and the sultry vocals of Mariah Carey. Free entry from 5pm until 2am.
