The Elves of Silbury Hill, a band featuring five members of space rock heroes Hawkwind, play a fundraiser for Sea Shepherd UK tonight.

The band, which includes Hawkwind founding member Dave Brock, is a side project for Hawkwind and they are happy to lend their support to Sea Shepherd, which works to protect the oceans and their wildlife and can currently be seen on TV in Whale Wars.

The event takes place at the Wedgewood Rooms with support from electro group Tribe of Cro and bluegrass band Pappa Jones’ Moonshine Band.

There will also be Sea Shepherd merchandise, Lush and Purely Scrumptious stalls, plus DJs until late.

Tanya Durrant, who works at the Wedge and volunteers at Sea Shepherd UK, says: ‘I think people living by the sea here in Portsmouth will be concerned for the plight of the world’s oceans and this is one way to get some awareness raised.’

Tickets cost £12.50 from wedgewood-rooms.co.uk, (023) 9286 3911, or on the door from 8pm.
