More than 20 acts will be performing for free at a pub in Southsea next weekend.

It’s all part of FestFest 2011, which takes place from Friday, July 29, to Sunday 31.

The mini festival is now in its third year at The Festing on Festing Road and will this year see acts spread across three stages, including upstairs music venue The Birdcage and a special acoustic stage in the garden.

Indie-shoegazers Lucifer’s Gold, punk-rock duo Bittertown Mary’s and blues-rock trio The Scandal are back for another year at the event.

They’ll be joined by FestFest first-timers such as The Harassment and melodramatic-popsters Verisae.

Meanwhile, big-name local bands The Plans and Hard Rock Calling finalists The Rubicon will play acoustic sets in The Festing’s beer garden.

Downstairs in the pub will be DJ sets from the likes of Guide Awards runners-up NineNinetyNines.

Landlord Matt Chapman says: ‘We are all really looking forward to the weekend.

‘Last year was brilliant and we’re hoping this year will be even bigger.

‘We’ve got some great acts returning and some making their FestFest debut.’

There will also be food, including a barbecue, available throughout the event, which is sponsored by Brothers Cider.
