After headlining a London NME Awards show at the end of last month, Fiction begin their headline tour tonight at The Registry in Portsmouth.

It’s the start of a 15-date tour to promote their debut album, The Big Other , which came out earlier this month.

The London-based quintet make 1980s inflected, thoughtful indie with a rich mash of polyrhythms and spidery guitar lines.

Their second single, Big Things, was picked up and playlisted by 6music and chosen for a Ford advert.

And the band themselves have been commended by Warpaint, Metronomy and Everything Everything, who all asked Fiction to play support slots for them.

Support tonight comes from Crushed Breaks as part of The Reg’s Date With The Night indie night from 8pm until 2am.

Admission is free.
