THE Wedgewood Rooms has scored another triumph by getting the first ever UK gig by the former My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way.

Way made his name with the multi-platinum selling rockers who had a massive number one hit with their single Welcome to the Black Parade.

He is due to release his hotly anticipated debut solo album Hesitant Alien on September 30.

He will be playing at the Reading and Leeds Festivals this weekend, where the website lists his appearance as a ‘global debut.’

This comes after Damon Albarn used the club as a warm-up for his solo shows in May, and Jamie T scored the Southsea venue’s fastest ever sell-out in seven minutes for his gig there last month.

Tickets the concert on Wednesday go on sale Tuesday at 9am and are expected to sell fast. They cost £15 and are available from seetickets.com/event/gerard-way/wedgewood-rooms/811407/
Customers are advised that they will need to bring ID with their printed order confirmation and that no mobile phones will be allowed in the venue on the night.
