What an exciting time to be a student! Portsmouth Freshers Week is upon us and definitely looks to start the year off with some good vibes.

Even if you aren't a student, it's a busy time.

Tonight at Portsmouth Guildhall, it's the Returners' Rave, and the line-up is looking to be a scorcher! Headlining is Bristol-based bass DJs My Nu Leng alongside Preditah and Alexis. This event is included in 2nd/3rd years' packs and individual tickets will also be sold for the event at £16.50 (guests of student tickets cost £18.15). Expect house, garage and drum and bass beats from 9pm until 2am. More details at facebook.com.

Tomorrow, Charmed Life Festival returns to Victoria Park in Southsea, promising the same quirky, family-friendly and relaxed vibe as previous years. The line-up boasts UVG ft Parv, Andy and The Odd Socks, Rebel Heroes, Kazabian, Antarctic Monkeys and many more, from 11.30am until 11.30pm, tickets cost £2.50 for under-nines, £10 for 10-to-17-year-olds and £20 for adults. Tomorrow night, The Freshers' Rave at Portsmouth Guildhall will be drum and bass-focused featuring none other than headliners Sub Focus and Friction! Sub Focus headlined Mutiny Festival this year and Friction is always a very welcome guest in Portsmouth '“ both are absolute power houses in the scene. The event will take place from 9pm until 2am with more details at facebook.com.

Meanwhile over at Acapulco on Albert Road, Rosso1031 returns to host Soundskape 2. After playing the last event, its great vibes and for a good cause too! From 8pm until 11pm, DJs Replay, Kieran P and Ross himself will take to the decks playing plenty of classic/funky house. There's a £3 minimum donation, which will go to Tonic Music for Mental Health.
