Duke Special makes a return to The Wedgewood Rooms this Sunday.
With his new album Look Out Machines! the Ulster-born singer-songwriter and gramophone impresario explores new musical ground and heralds the return of an artist back at the very top of his game.
Duke says: ‘This album is a photograph of where I am right now; it feels like a kind of gathering-in. It feels almost like a little launching pad.’
Those who know him for the platinum album Songs From The Deep Forest may be surprised by the cultural breadth of his work including writing the music for a 2009 production of Bertolt Brecht’s Mother Courage and Her Children at London’s National Theatre to being commissioned by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York to write a series of original songs based on an exhibition.
Doors 8pm. Tickets £15. Go to wedgewood-rooms.co.uk
