A chance meeting several years ago has resulted in the creation of an Anglo-French band that has its roots in one of Portsmouth’s best-loved cult bands.
Jonny Callender, drummer with Cranes, first met French producer Frank Amendola on tour when the latter was in a band called Corpus Delicti.
It was several years later that Amendola contacted Cranes’ singer Allie Shaw to do some work on his new project – Curl.
Allie was unable to do it, but pointed him towards Callender and his singer wife Hayley, and a band was born.
While the band have enjoyed success on the continent they will be playing a rare UK show at the Fat Fox in Southsea on Thursday, doors at 8pm, £3 on the door.
