An intriguing new project launches its debut album tomorrow night.
Broken Republic will be performing the album Sold at the Kings Street Tavern in Southsea
Broken Republic have spent considerable time developing their sound and honing their message. The sonic picture contains elements of jazz, blues, hip-hop, country, psychedelic soundscapes and beat poetry. They use these genres as a vehicle to carry their political message.
As their launch manifesto says: ‘The band are concerned by the implications of consumer culture and the pursuit of short-term gain at the expense of others.’
Entry by donation on the door will come with a free copy of the album. All proceeds will go to fundraising organisation No More Durty Water.
